What’s happening in our schools?
Public schools across America are under siege. Lawmakers with allegiance to Christian nationalism are using our public schools as testing grounds for religious agendas by:
- Forcing the Ten Commandments into classrooms.
- Replacing trained counselors with school chaplains.
- Pressuring schools to allow religious indoctrination.
- Attempting to override LGBTQ-plus inclusive curricula.
- And promoting publicly funded religious charter schools.
This is not religious freedom. It’s religious coercion.
Why it matters
When lawmakers impose religion in our schools, it undermines:
- Educational integrity.
- Religious liberty for all students.
- Inclusion and safety for for the 47 percent of school-aged Americans who are not religious, for students belonging to minority religions and for LGBTQ-plus students.
- The First Amendment and the separation of state and church.
