FFRF stops school from advertising religious programming (April 2, 2013)

FFRF received a complaint that Meadow Creek Elementary School in Bedford, Texas, was recently hosting and advertising a private Christian organization known as the “All Pro Dad.” On Jan. 30, FFRF Staff Attorney Liz Cavell sent a letter explaining that since this program’s focus was on promoting prayer and worship it was not appropriate to list such promotional advertisements in the school’s newsletter.

On April 2, the Superintendent of Schools Gene Buinger informed FFRF: “I have looked into the allegations and the principal at Meadow Creek Elementary School, confirmed that the facts, as you presented them, were correct. In the future the principal will not promote the ‘All Pro Dad’ events in the school calendar of events and a disclaimer will be placed on all promotional materials.
