FFRF convinces Minnesota school to stop promoting church services (June 21, 2013)

Thanks to the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a Woodbury, Minn. high school will no longer allow a church to advertise on the school’s electronic sign. Eagle Brook Church rents East Ridge High School on Sundays for worship services, and regularly advertised their services on the public school’s sign.

FFRF Senior Staff Attorney Rebecca Markert contacted South Washington County Schools Superintendent Keith Jacobus in a June 11 letter requesting the District cease promoting religious events.

Jacobus responded on June 21 that the District will no longer advertise non-school sponsored events on their sign starting July 1, 2013, meaning the church services will no longer be promoted there.
