Nominations Sought for Student Activist Awards

Again this year the Freedom From Religion Foundation is taking nominations for two student activist awards of $1,000.00 each, given to students who have taken on battles in their schools or communities on behalf of separation of church and state.

Past winners have objected as individuals to state-church entanglement, or have organized fellow students in protests, or have joined lawsuits.

Nominations should be sent to Anne Gaylor, FFRF Inc., PO Box 750, Madison WI 53701. Deadline for nominations is July 1, 2004.

Richard Mole, a Life Member of the Foundation, initiated this award several years ago. Alan Snyder, who died last year, also was a sponsor. The second award this year is being sponsored by Len and Karen Eisenberg, both Life Members.

These cash scholarships are in addition to the annual essay competition awards sponsored by the Foundation for high school seniors and college students. Click here for more information on FFRF’s essay contests for high school, college, and graduate students.
