The fascinating and fun guest on the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s TV show Sunday is a documentary filmmaker whose latest movie tackles religion head-on.
Zeke Piestrup’s ski documentary, “Downhill: The Bill Johnson Story,” won the best adventure film at the Vail Film Festival. Piestrup’s documentary “Apocalypse Later: Harold Camping vs. The End of the World” and his newest movie, “Satan’s Guide to the Bible,” are both previewed on the program. Piestrup discusses the heavy topic of bible scholarship in a fun way.
“This Christian nationalist, oftentimes fascist, movement that we have in America is a real threat to democracy,” Piestrup tells “Freethought Matters” co-hosts Dan Barker and Annie Laurie Gaylor. “So, I see my film as a resource, and it’ll always be free.”
Alas, the number of stations broadcasting “Freethought Matters” has reduced this year due to budgetary constraints. If you don’t live in any of the marquee towns where the show broadcasts on Sunday, you can already catch the interview on FFRF’s YouTube channel. New shows go up every Thursday.

- San Francisco, KICU-IND (Ch. 36), Sundays at 10 a.m.
- Washington, D.C., WDCW-CW (Ch. 50 or Ch. 23 or Ch. 3), Sundays at 8 a.m.
Upcoming shows include one that is all about a recent debate at Oxford with Dan Barker and Phil Zuckerman and another featuring five amazing freethought students.
