Faithless in Venezuela

Foundation co-president Dan Barker spoke about "Losing Faith in Faith" and religious opposition to scientific progress at Transvision '05 in Caracas, Venezuela, on July 23, sponsored by the World Transhumanist Association. Dan, who is fluent in Spanish, also spoke to a local skeptics' group.

Pictured with Dan at the lush Hotel Avila is conference organizer and author Jose Cordeiro of the Venezuelan Transhumanist Association.

Arthur C. Clarke, who said that "religion is the most malevolent mind virus ever created by human beings," addressed the conference via satellite from Sri Lanka, closing with this message to the world: "Don't Panic."
