FFRF’s lighted ‘A’ sign makes a winter comeback

The Freedom From Religion Foundation is proud to once again host the lighted “A” outside of its Freethought Hall offices in Madison, Wis.

FFRF puts up the sign every year in honor of the Winter Solstice. Standing for atheism and agnosticism, the A is an emblem designed by scientist Richard Dawkins, author of the blockbuster The God Delusion.

Posing next to it are some of FFRF’s communications staff: Freethought Today Editor PJ Slinger, Graphic Artist Roger Daleiden and Director of Communications Amitabh Pal. Photo credit goes to Staff Attorney Chris Line.

“We’re never afraid to make our presence known in our hometown of Madison,” says FFRF Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor. “The lit ‘A’ stands as a reminder to the surrounding community that dissenters everywhere exist and should be celebrated.”

The Freedom From Religion Foundation is a national nonprofit organization with over 40,000 members across the country, including more than 1,700 members and its national headquarters in Wisconsin. Our purposes are to protect the constitutional principle of separation between state and church, and to educate the public on matters relating to nontheism
