Join the Freedom From Religion Foundation in celebration of the Winter Solstice — the real reason for the season — on its “Freethought Matters” television show this Sunday.
Co-hosts Dan Barker and Annie Laurie Gaylor guide us on a warm personal and historical tour of the Solstice, which heralds the symbolic rebirth of the sun and the natural New Year. FFRF Attorney Patrick Elliott takes us on the road to explain constitutional versus unconstitutional Christmas displays. We also get a musical treat in the form of Barker and guest vocalist Susan Hofer performing a few freethinking tunes.
If you don’t live in the 27 percent of the country’s markets where the show broadcasts on Sunday, you can already catch the Solstice ebration on FFRF’s YouTube channel.
This is the fall season’s 18th episode of “Freethought Matters,” airing in 12 cities on Sunday, Dec. 27.
Upcoming shows will include interviews with two courageous individuals who’ve recently taken and won state/church lawsuits with FFRF; a member of the Congressional Freethought Caucus; Bangladeshi-American secular activist Bonya Ahmed; Public Religion Research Institute founder Robert P. Jones, author of White Too Long: The Legacy of White Supremacy in American Christianity; Chris Cameron, author of Black Freethinkers: A History of African American Secularism; and the distinguished British philosopher A.C.
