FFRF’s Ron Reagan ad returns to ‘Rachel Maddow Show’

An ever-popular Freedom From Religion Foundation ad featuring a presidential son is back on premier television.

1RRConPhotoThe nontheist organization's commercial with Ron Reagan inviting viewers to join the group is airing again over the next few weeks on one the nation's most prominent news commentary programs, the "Rachel Maddow Show" on MSNBC.

In the 30-second spot, Reagan, the progressive son of President Ronald and Nancy Reagan, says:

Hi, I'm Ron Reagan, an unabashed atheist, and I'm alarmed by the intrusion of religion into our secular government. That's why I'm asking you to support the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the nation's largest and most effective association of atheists and agnostics, working to keep state and church separate, just like our Founding Fathers intended. Please support the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Ron Reagan, lifelong atheist, not afraid of burning in hell.

The ad is running every day this week and will continue running periodically through Sept. 24 on the 9-10 p.m. (Eastern time) live broadcast. It will also make a few appearances on the late night rerun (starting at midnight Eastern time) the week of Sept. 25-Oct. 1.

FFRF's ad has been refused by CBS, NBC, ABC and Discovery Science. FFRF has previously been able to place it on some regional network markets, as well as on CNN and Comedy Central.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation is the nation's largest association of freethinkers (atheists and agnostics), with more than 29,000 members. It works as a state/church separation watchdog. Reagan has received FFRF's Emperor Has No Clothes Award and addressed FFRF's national convention two years ago. He has publicly identified himself for years as an atheist.

The commercial has spawned a popular FFRF T-shirt, lapel pin and a soon to be announced "virtual billboard" for social media use.

FFRF advertising is made possible by kind contributions from members. Donations to FFRF are deductible for income-tax purposes.
