FFRF writes memo to Ill. lawmakers opposing tax credit scholarship legislation

The Freedom From Religion Foundation sent a memo to all Illinois representatives and senators in which it opposed legislation to create an education budget that snakes in tax credit scholarship funds to circumvent legal barriers against funding parochial schools with public money.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation, based in Madison, Wis., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational charity, is the nation's largest association of freethinkers (atheists, agnostics), and has been working since 1978 to keep religion and government separate.
