Please oppose Pa. resolution calling for “day of prayer”

A Pennsylvania state representative has introduced a plainly nonsensical resolution calling for “A State Day of Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer” in response to COVID-19, which she has called “God’s punishment for our sins.”

Rep. Stephanie Borowicz has filed H.R. 835, which would designate March 30 as the day to combat an international public health crisis by praying and not eating. We need you to tell your Pennsylvania lawmakers that this outrageous pandering is a dangerous and irresponsible move.

The resolution reads, in part:

WHEREAS, During the pandemic of 2020 and the ensuing uncertainty and anxiety of this time, Pennsylvanians may be comforted by turning to a day of humiliation, fasting and prayer as well as the wise words of our great President Abraham Lincoln; and

WHEREAS, The House of Representatives devoutly recognizes the Supreme Authority and just Government of Almighty God in all the affairs of men and of nations; and

WHEREAS, It is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow…

This resolution will soon be voted on by the House State Government Committee. Please use our simple, automated system to contact the members of this committee and urge them to VOTE NO on this nonsensical resolution.
