Reaching Out to the UnMassed Masses

The Freedom From Religion Foundation erected its first freethought billboard in early October! Pictured by the colorful billboard, which resembles a stained-glass window, are Foundation co-presidents Dan Barker and Annie Laurie Gaylor, in Madison, Wis. FFRF, with membership help, plans to take its billboards on the road around the nation.

Honk If You Love Freethought

Dan Barker’s camera captured the exciting sequence as workers efficiently erected FFRF’s new 48-foot billboard in Madison, Wis., on an overcast morning on Oct. 2. The photo below shows the scale. Note the tiny worker under “Dogma.”

To give FFRF convention-goers a special greeting in mid-October, the Freedom From Religion Foundation leased a prominent billboard that all commuters pass by en route to and from the airport in Madison, Wis. Above, Foundation co-presidents Annie Laurie Gaylor and Dan Barker got their first peek at the beautiful “Imagine No Religion” image while driving speaker/editorial cartoonist Steve Benson to the airport following the convention. Dan and Steve, who teamed up their respective musical and artistic genius to present Tunes ‘n ‘Toons at the convention, ham it up, below, in front of the flipside of the billboard.
