Maude in Washington’s North Cascades. Dave and Kurt were sizing up the easier south route as part of the Inland Northwest Freethought Society’s first freethought mountain climb. “We will tackle this venture again this summer with a larger party after extending an invitation to FFRF members nationwide,” writes Dennis Bower, a chapter activist. The 2009 Freethought Mountain Climb is set for the last week of July (July 27 – 29) with hosted activities available on both sides of these dates. “We’ll be tackling a 9000-ft. peak in Washington State’s North Cascades. This climb is suitable for both the experienced mountaineer and the less experienced backcountry hiker/camper.”
