The Freedom From Religion Foundation received the very first invitation in its 30-year history to appear at a Roman Catholic church. Pictured on Jan. 28 with Father Pat Nolan is Foundation co-president Annie Laurie Gaylor, following her talk before the adult education class at Blessed Sacrament Church, Madison, Wis. The standing-room only audience was attentive and gracious. Annie Laurie, in her general remarks on the First Amendment, recounted several contributions by Catholic plaintiffs and Americans to the development of separation of church and state in America.
