The Freedom From Religion Foundation has joined a coalition of American civil rights organizations in order to continue fighting for the rights of all Americans under the second Trump administration.
FFRF is one of many organizations proud to be part of “The Pact: A Civil Rights Coalition Unity Commitment,” created by The Leadership Conference to foster solidarity among nonpartisan civil rights groups. The coalition is designed to ensure that its members will work together should any be attacked by the U.S. government, to share knowledge and resources with one another and will stay true to their missions instead of self-censoring out of fear.
“FFRF will continue to fight for the rights of nonbelievers, even as the Trump administration continues to escalate a blatantly Christian nationalist agenda,” FFRF Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor states.
In recent months, the Trump administration has escalated attacks on the rights of all non-Christian Americans, including the launching of an “anti-Christian bias task force.” The task force, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, seeks to reframe the work that groups like FFRF do as part of an “attack” against Christianity, citing examples of “bias” as denied accommodation requests, “mistreatment” for displaying Christian symbols, and even “failure to be promoted for religious reasons.”
As FFRF and coalition partners seek to continue the fight for the civil rights of all Americans, they are pleased to do so standing together united.
“What the Trump administration is willing to do to silence its enemies is deeply inappropriate, but FFRF is proud to have allies willing to stand up and keep fighting for the rights of all Americans, regardless of their religious beliefs,” Gaylor says.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation is a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting the constitutional principle of separation between state and church and educating the public on matters of nontheism. With more than 42,000 members, FFRF advocates for freethinkers’ rights. For more information, visit ffrf.org.
