“Fighting Words!”

Freethought Radio 2nd show available online

The May 6 broadcast of Freethought Radio, “Fighting Words,” is now online and available for podcast.

Listeners can wake up Saturdays to Freethought Radio from 8 – 9 a.m. on 92.1 FM, “The Mic, Madison’s Progressive Talk,” in Madison (the local “Air America” station). After each broadcast, the Foundation podcast will be available at the Foundation’s website within a couple of days.

Co-hosting are Dan Barker and Annie Laurie Gaylor, the Foundation’s co-presidents, who also hope to wake up listeners to the growing threat of the religious right. The pair describe Freethought Radio as offering “slightly irreverent views, news, music and interviews.”The show opens and closes with the strains of John Lennon’s freethought anthem, “Imagine.”

The May 6, 2006 show features an interview with poet, author, journalist and feminist activist Robin Morgan (Sisterhood Is Powerful), an atheist whose new book Fighting Words is a counter to the religious right. Her novel The Burning Times is based on the true case of the first woman put to death as a witch by the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland. Also hear “Theocracy Alert,” “Freethinkers’ Almanac,” and the debut of “Pagan Pulpit.”
