A feisty pioneering freethinking feminist author is the guest on the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s “Freethought Matters” TV show this Sunday.
Barbara G. Walker, originally known as a knitting expert, is the author of the bestselling Woman’s Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets and dozens of other books, including The Skeptical Feminist, Manmade God, Belief and Unbelief and Feminist Fairy Tales. Walker is featured in FFRF’s Anthology of Women Freethinkers: Women Without Superstition. She continues to write about the harm of religion at age 92, including for Freethought Today.
“The whole idea of original sin and blaming it on women is a terrible patriarchal idea,” Walker tells “Freethought Matters” co-host Annie Laurie Gaylor. “ It underlies all of patriarchal religion, and it makes men able to put women down in various inhuman ways. Therefore it should be eliminated altogether.” Watch the interview for more of Ms. Walker’s gutsy, no-holds-barred dissection of religion’s failings.
If you don’t live in the quarter-plus viewership of the nation where the show broadcasts on Sunday, you can already catch the interview on FFRF’s YouTube channel. New shows go up every Thursday.
