The Freedom From Religion Foundation is doubling down on its freethought message in the Atlanta area.
It has placed a billboard this week in Marietta calling supernatural belief the "enemy of humanity." The 14-x-48-foot bulletin can be viewed on Cobb Parkway north of Roswell Street. (Scroll to view map below, "Location #2.")
FFRF is also rotating its iconic "In Science We Trust" message, previously up in Smyrna, to a new venue, I-20, Atlanta, 400 feet west of I-75/85. (View map below. "Location # 1.") Both displays should be up for about a month.
FFRF, with kind help from Atlanta-area member Jack Egger, has a year-long billboard campaign in the bustling metropolis that began in January with the first placement of the "In Science We Trust" billboard. In February, FFRF and Egger placed a message stating, "The only wall we need is between state and church."
"If all of us had faith in science and humanism, we would improve life on Earth so fast," says Egger. "By giving up supernaturalism, we all can have a more fulfilling life, with a brighter, more peaceful and predictable future."
FFRF, a state/church watchdog which serves as the nation's largest association of freethinkers (atheists and agnostics), has 32,000 members, including over 500 in Georgia. In April, FFRF is celebrating its 40th anniversary as a national organization. It has 20 chapters nationwide, including an Atlanta-area chapter.
"We're delighted to be reaching out to Georgia citizens with freethinking messages. It so many instances, religion is the problem, not the answer," says FFRF Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor.
