Anne Gaylor’s 80th Birthday to Benefit Charity

Anne Nicol Gaylor, who has led a life of activism, is using her upcoming 80th birthday to benefit women without means.

Anne, the principal founder and president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation from 1977-2004, will turn 80 on Nov. 25.

Her 80th birthday party will be the occasion of a Nov. 12 benefit in Madison, Wis., for the Women’s Medical Fund. The Women’s Medical Fund has assisted almost 16,000 needy Wisconsin women in obtaining abortion care.

Anne is a cofounder of the Women’s Medical Fund, with Prof. Robert West, who is also a Foundation member, and the late Peggy West. (Who says atheists don’t run charities?) Anne has administered the Fund as a volunteer for 30 years.

So far this year, the Fund has helped 800 women, with an average grant of $235.00. The Fund is considered the longest-lived, continuously-operating abortion charity in the country.

The Women’s Medical Fund is all-volunteer, with more than 99% of contributions going for the specific purpose of providing abortion care for Wisconsin women in crisis.

A tax-deductible donation to honor Anne’s birthday may be made payable to the Women’s Medical Fund, Inc., PO Box 248, Madison WI 53701.
