Today, July 21, the House will be voting on HR 8373 or the Right to Contraception Act, which would put into law the right to use contraception.
When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24, it threw our nation and reproductive rights in dozens of states into crisis. It seems that the Religious Right will stop at nothing to try and make the United States a Christian nationalist country, so please tell your member of Congress that you want action now!
With new conversations surrounding existing Supreme Court decisions, the Right to Contraception Act is absolutely important in preserving the right to contraception. In reference to Justice Clarence Thomas’ recent comments on Griswold v. Connecticut, the Los Angeles Times wrote, “Americans should be aghast. For more than half a century, they have enjoyed the right to buy and use birth control, and the freedom that contraceptives give women — and men — to decide if and when they want to become parents.”
