FFRF Sunday TV show celebrates Winter Solstice

heathens greetings

Join the Freedom From Religion Foundation for a celebration of Winter Solstice on its “Freethought Matters” television show this Sunday.

Co-hosts Dan Barker and Annie Laurie Gaylor guide us on a warm personal and historical tour of the solstice, which heralds the symbolic rebirth of the sun and the natural New Year. FFRF Senior Counsel Patrick Elliott goes on the road to analyze public Christmas displays. And a musical delight is featured in the form of Barker and guest vocalist Susan Hofer performing freethinking seasonal tunes.

“In celebrating the Winter Solstice, we celebrate reality,” Gaylor states, and the program documents.

If you don’t live in the quarter-plus of the nation where the show broadcasts on Sunday, you can watch the program on FFRF’s YouTube channel. LINK New shows go up every Thursday. You can also receive notifications when we post new episodes of “Freethought Matters” by subscribing to the playlist on FFRF’s YouTube channel.

Get ready next Sunday for a special Solstice Music Festival treat in keeping with the theme for the holiday season. Subsequent shows spotlight 11-year-old Elle Harris, author of Elle the Humanist, Texas anti-book ban activist Adrienne Martin and musician Andre Forbes. This fall season already contains must-see interviews with bestselling award-winning author John Irving, “Star Trek” actor John “Q” de Lancie, acclaimed thinker Professor Daniel Dennett, Texas iconoclast Jim Hightower, leading constitutional abortion rights expert Professor Geoffrey Stone and atheist Washington Post columnist Kate Cohen.
