The Freedom From Religion Foundation is proudly featuring freethought “testimonials” by scientists and scientific thinkers in its monthly ad in Scientific American Magazine. In the just-published February issue, Daniel C. Dennett is featured. The Tufts University professor of philosophy and author of the bestselling “Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon,” is pictured with a quote Dennett provided for the purpose of the ad:

“If the topic comes up, acknowledge you’re an atheist. No big deal. Now let’s talk about something interesting.”

Dennett is a recipient of FFRF’s Emperor Has No Clothes Award, and is an Honorary Director, as are other science-oriented brains featured in previous FFRF ads in Scientific American, including FFRF’s Honorary President Steven Pinker, Richard Dawkins, Jerry Coyne, Rebecca Newberger Goldstein, and the late Victor Stenger. FFRF’s two newest scientific Emperor Has No Clothes awardees — Donald C. Johanson and Sean Carroll — have also been in recent Scientific American ads.

FFRF Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor said: “Every day we hear from interesting Scientific American readers from around the country who want more information on FFRF’s work.”
