The Central Florida Freethought Community (a chapter of the Freedom From Religion Foundation) will host a pizza party, not to celebrate the unconstitutional National Day of Prayer, but a National Day of Reason, on which day the chapter will have distributed freethought literature in 11 Orange County high schools. This distribution is a response to the fact that bibles were distributed in those same schools. The event will take place on Thursday, May 2, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the First Unitarian Church of Orlando (1901 East Robinson Street). FFRF is hosting a noon solstice celebration on Friday, Dec. 21 from 12-1 p.m. at the Wisconsin State Capitol (GAR Memorial Hearing Room - use door 413 North or 417 North, click here for a map).
The festivities will include solstice carols with Ken Lonnquist and Dan Barker and sweet treats. Donations of non-perishable food items and money will be collected for Second Harvest. Stop by to see FFRF's two Capitol displays, our Winter Solstice sign and our do-it-yourself natural Winter Solstice 'Nativity' display (countering a creche).

FFRF Staff Attorney Andrew Seidel will “Debunk the Christian Nation Myth” at the Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 10:30 a.m. He will talk about two popular American creation myths: 1. That our country was founded as a Christian nation 2. The more refined claim that we were founded on Judeo-Christian principles. Andrew will argue that both claims are false.
