Jesus fish fished out of Mo. City Hall (April 4, 2013)

The Freedom From Religion Foundation helped ensure the removal of a Jesus fish display from the Municipal Court Office in the Rolla City Hall (Mo.), after a concerned local resident asked FFRF to complain.

FFRF Staff Attorney Elizabeth Cavell contacted the city officials in an April 4 letter requesting the Jesus fish be removed.

The Jesus fish symbol was visible to all citizens required to visit the Municipal Court Office. Cavell noted that it is inappropriate for a government agency to endorse Christianity or any religion.

City Administrator John Butz responded in an email the same day to report the Jesus fish had been relocated to a private location.
