FFRF Billboards

Topeka, KS

Neither Rain nor . . .
Cheerful Topeka-area freethinkers convened for a rainy-day photo in front of the Foundation’s 14x48-foot “Imagine No Religion” billboard, placed in late March for a month on the North Topeka Bridge, Kansas. Special thanks to Foundation member Lee Tibbets of the Atheist Community of Topeka for finding the billboard site and helping arrange the photo shoot, and to all local donors. Photo: Matt Saucer

Celebrating Darwin in Wichita, Kansas

Area members of the Freedom From Religion Foundation convened for a group photo in April by the Foundation’s 14x48-foot billboard at West 21st and Tyler Road, in Wichita, Kansas.

The billboard got a lot of play in the Wichita Eagle, as well as TV coverage. The Eagle’s news story on March 26, humorously, was titled: “Darwin billboard in Wichita gets mixed reaction from churches”!

The Foundation billboard, bearing Charles Darwin’s iconic image and the words “Praise Darwin: Evolve Beyond Belief,” marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin, and the 150th anniversary this year of the release of Darwin’s landmark work on evolution, Origin of Species.

Special thanks to Foundation member Peggy Knudtson (center, kneeling), who scouted out the excellent location, and arranged the photo shoot.
