The Alabama Freethought Association is a chapter of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Monthly AFA meetings are held at Freethought Hall, in rural Munford, Ala., on the third Sunday of each month, starting with Social hour at 11 AM, Covered Dish Lunch at noon and Speaker at 1 PM. Afterwards, folks continue to socialize, take walks, fish or paddle boat around the 12 acre lake. You are welcome as a guest with no prerequisite to become a member. Blair Scott, President of North Alabama Freethought Society, is guest speaker at Lake Hypatia Freethought Hall and Advance. You won't want to miss this speaker! He is speaking on "Increasing Memberships."
Social hour 11:00 am until 12:00 noon with a covered dish meal. Followed by the 1:00 pm program with Blair Scott.
Directions from the City of Talladega: Follow Highway 77 south (approximately four miles) to mile marker/caution light at the intersection with County Road 303. Turn left at stop sign, go straight up hill. (On the left you will see a sign that says "Lake Hypatia next right.") At top of hill you will see a blue Star sign that says "Lake Hypatia." Turn right at sign, go straight ahead left of privacy fence.

- June 20: Clean up day starting at 9 am, Lake Hypatia, free lunch
- July 3, 4, 5: 20 year celebration, the 2009 Lake Hypatia 'Advance'
- NEW! August 16: Dr. Preston B. Rowe will speak at 1 pm (see below)
- RESCHEDULED! Blair Scott is no longer speaking on August 23rd, and is rescheduled for October 18, 2009
- September 20: Social hour, meal, high school presentation on bullying
- October 18: Blair Scott, topic TBA
- November 15: Veterans appreciation (bring a letter from a veteran to share)
- December 19: Month off, unless someone is willing to host a Solstice party

NOTE: Please excuse an error in the announcement for an August 23rd AFA meeting with Blair Scott speaking. This was an error. AFA had its 3rd Sunday Meeting already.
The Alabama Freethought Association held the August 16, 2009 Meeting with speaker Dr. Preston B Rowe. A thought provoking discussion followed.
The scheduled meeting September 20, 2009, at Lake Hypatia Freethought Hall begins at 11 am with social hour, at noon, a covered dish meal, and at 1pm a high school female with be giving her award winning program on BULLYING. A continued ideas and solution talk will follow.
Alabama Freethought Association will meet on October 18, 2009 and has scheduled Blair Scott for the regular 3rd Sunday Speaker. Topic to be announced.
November and December plans to be announced.

Dr. Preston B. Rowe Speaks
the regular August meeting of the Alabama Freethought Association. The meeting will be held at Lake Hypatia. Preston's topic will be "Within and between worlds of experience". He is a long time teacher and holds a BS in mathematics from Dartmouth College, a PHD in Psycology from the Massachucetts Institute of Technology, and a MS in computer science from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
We will enjoy a covered dish lunch at 12:00 noon, and Preston will talk with us at 1:00pm. I look forward to seeing each of you there. If that does not work out for you please let me hear from you.
